Weird weather for the Hooch

Weird weather today - it was cold pretty much all day, but it ranged from cloudy to sunshine to rain to windy to sleet to sunshine and back to just cloudy.

Poor John got a call to go back to the boathouse to help re-set the buoys for the course for the Head of the Hooch this weekend. He returned after 2-3 hours cold and wet. He had had to leave because he started shivering uncontrollably and couldn’t get warm - obviously well on his way to hypothermia after having gotten wet in one of the showers. He quickly got in a hot shower and I warmed up his clean clothes in the dryer. That plus some chair/heating pad/blanket time finally got him warmed up.

It’s going to be a rough weekend for the regatta weather-wise, with lows predicted around 30. The Hooch is a huge event for Chattanooga. There’s not a motel room left in town, with nearly 9000 entrants in the events, plus all the staff, coaches, spectators, and families. They’re predicting an almost 4.5 million dollar impact on the city this weekend. That’s really big - and we hope all goes well.
