Monday Miscellany

The usual Monday stuff today. My cards were some better today. They’d have had to go some to be worse. I really did have the low score the last time we played - out of 7 tables. That’s pretty bad.

The UTC Lady Mocs beat Appalachian State 80-71 tonight. It was a sweet victory, even though it had no bearing on the conference standings. And it was a hard fought game. Everybody who follows women’s basketball knows that the refereeing is pretty bad. But tonight’s game showed a new low in referee incompetence. It’s a shame - when two good teams are playing and have to put up with that.

Women’s basketball would not be what it is today without the efforts of Pat Summitt, the legendary head coach of the Tennessee Lady Vols. Her being diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s is a tragedy. It’s been sad to see her deteriorate over the year. Mark Wiedmer of the Chattanooga Times Free Press expressed the sentiments of all of us - and did it perfectly.

Life Philosophy 101 for the Squirrelly Senior Citizens is a blog I’ve started reading. He’s particularly good today. Check it out.
