Travel news

From Mary

Just one morning group excursion - to a small island village where the women do weaving. Not the highest quality (we were told), but very nice. Each of us was basically captured by one or more children and/or mothers who wanted you to buy from them at the end of our walk. We did buy before reboarding the boat - some nice pieces and lovely colors, but overwhelmed with the kids. Back to Phnom Penh for a free afternoon and evening. We went with Ann & Al on a tuk-tuk (a small cart with seats pulled by a motorbike) to the Central Market for an hour. Huge - selling everything you could think of. I wanted to get a t-shirt, and got two - John got one (total of $7.00). Back to the ship for some bridge. After dinner we had a delightful program with some local children students at a dance school, doing traditional dances. Those kids really can bend their fingers back like you've seen in pictures. Can't wait to see all the pictures.

Today is a sailing day - down the Mekong and crossing the border into Vietnam. We're told it will take 3 or more hours at the border crossing. Just red tape, I think.

On the home front, I'm still enjoying spring. After some really horrible storms the weather has changed to perfection.
