Back to the hot weather

Things went mostly as usual at bridge today. I had some great cards and some lousy ones - but I managed to be on the “high” end of every round, so stayed at the top table the whole time. I probably didn’t get high though.

We had another power outage this evening - only a little over an hour this time. A tree up the street just fell over on a power line, and the power company was there lickety-split to fix it.

Found out today that our good friend from Houston (from high school and college; she married one of John’s HS friends; we were in their wedding; they come to the beach every summer) has been in the hospital for a week. She was having intense abdominal pain, and diagnosed with diverticulitis. An abscess formed, and they finally had to operate yesterday and take out that section of bowel. I’ve talked to her, and she’ll be in the hospital another few days. They’ve told her she can probably go to the beach, just not in the water. Guess she won’t be able to get much of the food, either. But she’ll certainly get babied.
