John managed to get through some of the red tape and get an international driving permit. Now he'll be able to drive when we get a rental car in England. We're glad to get that straightened out.
Ann and Al said that they were ready to back away from independent travel - they just didn't want to deal with the arrangements and glitches. I think we're about to come to the same decision. Note that this doesn't mean we'll be staying at home - just more likely to let somebody else take care of the arrangements.
