This is what Mount Etna looked like last spring when we were in Sicily.
This is what it looks like now (beginning last week).
And this is a color-enhanced picture taken from the Space Station (the red is hot lava, the turquoise is snow).
Wow!
My name is Mary Z. John and I live in Tennessee. We've been retired since 1991, and have a passion for travel and photography. I paint, do needlepoint and knit, read, work word puzzles. John is a rower and loves to read and work word puzzles, too.

It's beautiful. It's also scary, if you consider its power and the fact that all we can do is watch it -- and try to stay out of the way.
You're SO right! I love seeing volcanoes. It's scary, too, going to Yellowstone, and knowing that you're standing in the caldera of an ancient volcano, and it's still living.
What gorgeous photos! Makes you think about Pompeii, doesn't it!
