I'm on the computer for the first time since Monday after a couple of F1 tornadoes went through our area. The power went out at 2:22 p.m. on Monday, and got turned back on about 5:30 p.m. today. But still no TV, phone, or internet. We'd already reserved a motel room, so I'm connected with something besides the cell phone. It’s lovely to be at a comfortable temperature, with lights, TV, and WiFi. We had a nice dinner out, too.
There’s a lot of damage in our immediate neighborhood and across town. Lots of trees broken and uprooted in our area, and 4-5 house with trees onto the houses. Something close to 150 power poles are having to be replaced across town. Over 60,000 homes were without power at one time or another. We really had minimal damage. Several of the next-door neighbor’s trees fell, some across his fence and our fence, taking out the drop line from the power pole to our house. Several trees are down in our “back 40”, but we’ll just leave them there to decompose naturally - unless somebody wants to go to the trouble to cut them up for firewood.
All in all, we got off easy. We met a couple here at the motel who have lost their house - it got hit by lightening and, I assume, burned down.

On another note, John is feeling better now. I went to see the rheumatologist to see if he could do something for the continuous back pain I’ve been having. They started me on a steroid dose-pack, some muscle relaxants, and a short course of physical therapy with instruction for continuation at home.

Of more concern is that dear Betsy has been back in the hospital for heart irregularities. The cardiologist who evaluated her said that she needed a pacemaker. That was done this afternoon, and hopefully will help with some of the problems she’s been having. All our love and prayers are with her - as is the case all the time.
